Representative Brian King Selects Rebekah Cummings as Running Mate and Lieutenant Governor Candidate

(SALT LAKE CITY, UT) - Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Brian King, announced Rebekah Cummings as his running mate in a new campaign video. As outlined in the Utah Code, Representative King submitted a letter to Lt. Gov. Henderson’s office that read:


“I, Brian King, am writing to name Rebekah Cummings as my running mate and candidate for Lieutenant Governor. 


“A mom. A public servant. A librarian. A defender against book banning and censorship. Utahns will be well served by Rebekah’s leadership through her advocacy for intellectual freedom and commitment to empowering families.


“Utahns are tired of the chaos and control. Together, Rebekah and I are building a coalition of pragmatists, not purists - those who want the government to get back to doing its job. Join us for the better.”


An accomplished public servant and educator, Rebekah Cummings is the Director of Digital Matters at the University of Utah and board chair of the Utah State Library Board. She has been a strong advocate against ​​book banning and other academic censorship. Rebekah lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, Robert, her three children – Aidan, Harper, and Ashton – and their rescue dog, Stan. Brian King represents District 23 in the Utah State House of Representatives. Elected in 2008, he also served as the House Minority Leader from 2015 to 2023. In addition to his role in public service, Brian is a practicing attorney and business owner. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife, Ann, accompanied by the delightful presence of their dog, Cora.
